Exchange Ambassadors from Bulgaria
Festival of Nations, St. Paul, Minnesota April 24, 2005
OBI traveled the world as Exchange Ambassadors from Bulgaria at the Festival of Nations in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Rogarians, in their best Bulgarian musician disguises, joined real life Bulgarian Nikolay Gueorguiev to stand outside the Nice Gate of Showdiv and twiddled strings of pravos, rutchenitsas, bucimis, krivos, paidushkos, gankinos, kopenitsas and daichovos to gathering crowds asking, "what the heck kind of rhythms are those anyway?"
Among Orkestar Bez Ime's International friends in attendance were Austrians, Germans, Serbians, Romanians, Poles and Greeks. The members of OBI were most happy to see the Supreme Vulgar, Daryl, from Rogaria's surrounding country of Vulgaria and salutations were plentiful with Italians, Slovaks and Czechs.
Although Rogarians rarely give their national identity away while in disguise, OBI vocalist, Natalie Nowytski, exercised the ancient custom of enticing visiting male dancers to lay food and beverages at her feet as they enter their dressing room. She was very successful.
OBI's new friend, the chieftain of alienvisitors (sometimes disguised as a very large Fiberglas bovine from Wisconsin), took human shape to eat the mandatory three pieces of Birthday cake with a Rogarian ceremonial fork to officially close the weekend.
Coming up next in OBI's part of the universe...........
